Medley Non-Toxic Sofa Review: Real-Life Comfort & Durability

Medley is one of our top picks for non-toxic sofas and other furniture for several reasons:

  • Everything is PFAS-free
  • They offer many natural fabric options
  • Natural latex cushions are available
  • Wide range of colors and styles to choose from

But a non-toxic sofa isn’t useful if it isn’t comfortable and functional.

I tested Medley to evaluate the comfort, quality, pet durability, and overall value.

(Spoiler: I love it. Details below.)

What I got

I ordered the 84″ Rio Sofa and ottoman with GOLS-certified latex cushions, solid maple legs, and Willow Chenille fabric in Lichen.

I chose Willow Chenille, a durable polyester with a high rub count and a PFAS-free stain-resistant finish, because I have three pets. The fabric is GREENGUARD Gold certified and built to withstand heavy use while still feeling soft.

My thoughts on the Medley sofa

Delivery & setup process

Delivery was smooth. Drivers called ahead, unboxed the pieces in the truck, carried everything inside, and set the sofa up where I requested. Be prepared to have the space cleared ahead of delivery, as they won’t move existing furniture.

I did not notice any chemical odors on arrival, which makes Medley a good option for people with chemical sensitivities.

Comfort, feel, and appearance

The sofa is comfortable and leans toward the firmer side—supportive rather than sink-in soft. Guests often comment on how comfortable and attractive it is. It makes a great nap spot, especially for pets.

I selected GOLS-certified organic latex cushions; if you prefer a softer feel, need to save money, or have latex sensitivities, polyurethane foam is an available alternative.

The fabric quality stood out to me as an artist: soft, buttery, and visually adaptable. The Lichen color blended seamlessly with my existing decor without needing to re-style the room. The construction is solid—very heavy and sturdy, with no creaking, wobbling, or shifting.

Wear & tear

I have three pets: a large Great Pyrenees, Frida, and two cats, Marcel and Stick—everyone is allowed on the couch. After several months of daily use, the fabric remains virtually unscathed. My cats have been discouraged from scratching it; when I do catch a scratch attempt, the surface still looks untouched.

So far I’ve had no staining issues. Pet hair brushes off easily, and small spills wipe away with a damp cloth.

I’ll update this review after extended use, but at four months in the sofa has held up very well.
