How to Make Lucky Charms Treats in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here. These treats were inspired while I was at Camp Lou-Da-Cris, where a batch of Rice Krispy treats sparked the idea: why not make them with Lucky Charms? The result is gooey marshmallow goodness mixed with crunchy, colorful cereal — perfect for parties, holidays, or anytime you want a fun dessert.

Making them in a crock pot keeps the process simple and hands-off, but remember: slow cookers vary. If this is your first time melting marshmallows in a particular crock pot, stay nearby and check the mixture a bit more often the first time you try it. Some cook hotter than others and may need an extra stir or two.

Instructions

  1. Turn your 6-quart slow cooker to high and add the sliced butter.
  2. Cover and let the butter melt for a few minutes.
  3. Add the mini marshmallows, cover, and let them sit about 5 minutes so they begin to melt.
  4. Give the butter and marshmallows a good stir. If needed, cover for a couple more minutes until the marshmallows are mostly melted.
  5. Stir until most of the lumps are gone and the mixture is smooth.
  6. Add the cereal and stir gently until all pieces are well coated.
  7. Spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray. Transfer the cereal mixture into the pan.
  8. Spray your hands with cooking spray and press the mixture evenly into the pan. Press firmly but gently so the treats hold together.
  9. Allow the treats to cool completely before cutting and serving.

Notes & Tips

  • Slow cookers vary in temperature. The first time you make this in a new cooker, monitor the marshmallows closely and stir more often if needed.
  • For firmer bars, press the mixture firmly into the pan and allow it to cool fully before slicing.
