DIY Pumpkin Spice Candle – how to make pumpkin spice candles for fall. This candle makes a great handmade gift idea!

Autumn is here, and with it comes everything pumpkin spice: drinks, desserts and cozy scents. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just enjoy a touch of fall in your home, a pumpkin spice candle is a simple way to bring that seasonal warmth inside. Even if the weather outside doesn’t feel like fall, lighting a homemade pumpkin spice candle makes a room feel snug and inviting—perfect for curling up with a blanket and a favorite movie. Below is an easy, customizable method to make your own pumpkin spice candles at home.

Supplies:
– Soy wax flakes
– Pumpkin spice fragrance oils (a blend of pumpkin pie and gingerbread works beautifully)
– Glass jar(s)
– Candle wick(s)
– Hot glue
Step one: Secure the wick to the center of your jar using a dab of hot glue. Make sure it’s centered so the candle burns evenly.
Step two: Melt the soy wax flakes. Place the flakes in a microwave-safe container (a large Pyrex measuring cup works well) and heat in short bursts, stirring every 30 seconds until fully melted. I used about 5 cups of wax to fill one medium and two small jars; adjust the amount to fit your containers. Alternatively, you can melt the wax using a double boiler on the stovetop.
Step three: Add fragrance oil to the melted wax. A good starting ratio is roughly 1 ounce of fragrance per pound of wax, but you can adjust to your preference. I combined about 15 drops of pumpkin pie oil with 10 drops of gingerbread oil for a rich, spiced aroma—the gingerbread note helps brighten and deepen the pumpkin scent.

Step four: Pour the scented wax into your prepared jars. To keep the wick centered while the wax cools, lay a pencil or small dowel across the jar and wrap the wick around it. Let the candles cool and cure for several hours or overnight. Once fully set, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting.
